Read over the FAQs

Many common questions for new riders are covered in the FAQ section.

2.

Let us know you are interested

If you’ve made it this far, we’d love to hear from you. Please fill out the short survey using the link below, so we can help make sure that we get you into the right team for further information.

We also will hold several informational sessions during the spring to talk more about the team philosophy, practice schedules, and more. Completing this survey will help to get you on the email distribution list.

Do you have the right equipment

to ride safely?

Bike

Your mountain bike should have at least 10 gears, shift well, have at least a front shock, tires at least 2.2" wide, and have good brakes. Any bar ends or kickstands should be removed. This is a fun race team, you need a decent bike that won’t break down, not a $3,000 race machine.  If you need a bike, WI league and OCC may have a few loaner bikes which are generally available on a need basis.

Riders are responsible for their own bike repairs at practices and races, coaches are here to help and carry pumps and small supplies.  Please have your bike checked and tuned up at a local shop before the season.

Helmet, shoes, gloves: A properly fitting bike helmet is required to be strapped on at all times. Close-toed shoes are required, and flimsy or easily damaged shoes should be avoided. Full-finger bike gloves are nice to have. Gloves give better grip with sweaty hands and give some protection from bushes and falls.

Water bottle or hydration pack: Always bring water to practice. Hydration packs may be easier for new riders to take quick drinks without reaching for a water bottle and to carry more water on a hot day. The choice is yours.

Complete registration to be

practice-ready by July 1

All rider registration is handled within the national registration system known as “PitZone”. After completing the new rider survey in step 2 above, you should receive a PitZone invitation to the correct team. Check your spam folder if you do not see it. You can reach PitZone here.

Follow our registration checklist to make sure you have everything you need in place to just get out and ride.
